We Want a Bath Too!

All of the kiddos in our house love taking baths.
Every time that I put Lucas in the bath, the girls come into the bathroom, stand up and watch him take a bath. They want in! I know that one of these days, I will have a wet baby that has thrown herself into the tub. :)

Comfortable?

Lately Emrie has decided that when I put her down for a nap, she wants to sit up in her crib. The problem is, when she gets tired, she forgets to lay down and just falls asleep. I have found her sitting up and sleeping several times in the past little while.
This can't be comfortable!

Sweet's Factory Tour

Yesterday for playgroup, we went to the Sweet's Candy Factory. It was so much fun! We got a tour and learned how they make, package and store all of their candy. I seriously think that I enjoyed this tour more than anybody else, even the kids. I was so enthralled. Giant factories like that really excite me. I would love to work there and make the taffy. The making of taffy is so neat.
After the tour, we got to go into the store and buy some candy. They had a huge selection of taffy. I must say, the huckleberry taffy was absolutely delicious!
The kids had a blast. What a big group. Everyone in playgroup was able to make it, except the girls. They were home with grandma. Thanks for watching them Mom!

7 Brides and then some

We had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day.
My mom took the girls, Lucas and I to lunch at Chili's. Yummy! They have some new lunch specials that are quite tasty. We had a lot of fun. Thanks Mom!
That evening, Lucas and I rode up to North Ogden with my parents to see my niece, Angelina, in a play. (Ron and the babies stayed home) Her Jr. High was performing 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. She played the part of a bride, Sarah. We enjoyed standing in line in the gym. Lucas had fun getting out his energy with a bunch of other little kids. We were glad to finally be able to meet Kebly's new girlfriend, Tawni.
Angelina as Sarah.

Angelina did a wonderful job in the play. It was so cute. What a fun way to spend St. Patrick's Day!

1 Year Check Up

We went to the Dr. yesterday for the girls 1 year check up. Our Dr. is so funny! When he walked into the room, he compared them to a mini sports car and an SUV. Totally true! :)
This is the best picture I could get of them. They were so excited and kept moving.

Emrie is still a little chunk. I love my chunky monkey. They are now just comparing them to other babies their same age, 1 year olds. She is 23 lbs 5 oz and in the 80%. She is 28.2 inches tall and in the 25-50%. Her noggin is 18.9 inches and it is off the charts.

Eva is still tiny. Love her. She is 16 lbs 10 oz and is less than the 5%. She is 27.2 inches tall and in the 10%. Her head is 17.6 inches and in the 25-50%.

Dr. Wirkus said that they are both doing wonderfully. It's hard to not compare them, since they are twins, but they are both doing great with their progress and growing perfectly. We can't change them to forward facing carseats until they are 12 months adjusted. He is pretty sure that by May, Eva won't even be 20 lbs yet. She will have to wait until she hits that goal. We also are able to switch them to whole milk now. Yahoo! Now the task of weening them off the bottle. I haven't had to ween a child from a bottle before. Wish me luck!

Late Wedding Photo

I just received this picture from my nephew, Damon's, wedding. He got married in November 2010. Better late than never, because I love this family photo of us!
I bought the girls new Easter dresses a few weeks ago but, I am thinking of using these dresses instead. I forgot how cute they looked in them. I think that I will have to try them on. I would normally buy new dresses for Easter but, they only wore them once. Right?

1st Birthday Party

With 1st birthdays always comes a huge celebration, right? With two babies turning 1, it was a huge, huge celebration. We rented an indoor pavilion in Sandy to host the party.
We had soups with yummy toppings, salads and rolls for dinner. The soups were Chicken Enchilada, Taco, Almost Ultimate She Crab, Broccoli, Butternut Squash, Chicken Noodle, Tomato Basil and Italian Sausage. We had a variety of salads. Thank you so much to all of you that helped out and brought a salad or soup (or both). It was a great sight seeing 8 crockpots lined up.

The theme of the birthday party was cupcakes. I made huge cupcake cakes for the girls to eat for their first cake. I also made mini chocolate cupcakes and a few regular size cupcakes. My cousin, Courtney, is hands down the best cupcake baker in town. She made mini coconut and strawberry lemonade cupcakes.
We had a wonderful turnout of guests. I didn't get pictures of everyone, because I got distracted during my photo taking. Above is a picture of a bunch of our guests. Thank you SO much to those of you who chose to come and celebrate with us!
Since Emrie is the oldest, we sang to her first. She was so cute while eating her cake. She was so dainty and never really dug in. She just loved eating the frosting and the sprinkles.
Eva was very concerned when we lit her candle. She didn't understand why people were holding her hands. It was so cute when she just dug into the side of her cake and ate handfuls.
The girls were so spoiled! They got so many nice presents. Thank you to everyone that gave them such nice gifts.
Since we opened presents after the cake, we just left their clothes off. It was pretty warm in the pavilion with all the people. We were just planning on putting their jammies on after anyway. They loved all the fun presents that they got.

What a wonderful celebration and great way to spend the evening. Again, thanks to all of you that joined us and helped make the evening so special. Happy Birthday Girls!

Happy Happy 1st Birthday Baby Girls

Today was our baby girls 1st birthday. I can't believe that they are 1! This year has gone by so fast. It has been amazing, happy, busy, sleepless (early on), joyful, tearful (happy tears) and crazy all at the same time.
When the girls were born, I absolutely could not believe how tiny they were. I know that there are smaller babies out there, but to me, they seemed so tiny. They were such fighters! They spent 4 and 5 weeks in the NICU at IMC to grow and learn how to eat. They have come such a long way in one short year. Now, you would never know that they were preemies.

Emrie is such a happy baby! She doesn't cry very often, unless she is tired, hungry or hurt. She did have a period of time that she didn't like men, but she has gotten over that and will go to anyone. She is always smiling. She loves to drink her bottle and eat. I can't believe that this tiny 3 lb 8 oz baby now weighs around 23 lbs! Her favorite way to crawl is the army crawl on her belly. I can't believe how fast she gets around. She must have strong arms. She has 8 teeth and is working on more. She is just like me and loves her sleep. She is finally starting to get some hair. Sometimes I see some red in it. When her sister tells people "Bye Bye", she loves to wave bye bye.

Eva is so spunky! She has quite the little attitude. The funny thing is, she has had it since in the womb. She was a kicker. She loves to scream if she wants something. She also just screams when she wants your attention. She is a complete binki-a-holic. She would suck it all day long if we let her. Eva is just like Lucas in the sleep department. She does not require a lot of sleep to function. In the mornings, Eva is the first one awake 95% of the time. She has 12 teeth. She is not a huge fan of the bottle and generally only drinks about 3-4 ounces. She loves little snacks, like dry cereal. She was born tiny at 3 lbs 6 oz and actually got down to 2 lbs 14 oz. She is still small, weighing around 17 lbs. She loves to wave and tell people "Bye Bye".
We threw a huge 1 year birthday party for them. It turned out so wonderful. I will post more about it later.

HAPPY HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY Emrie and Eva! We love, love, love you both so much. We are so happy that you have made our family complete. Mommy and Daddy are so excited to raise you and watch you grow.

Nicknames

In our family we like to use nicknames a lot. It's fun to be silly. Do you see the resemblance?
For obvious reasons, we and a lot of other people call Lucas, Luke. Ron's dad calls him, Mr. Skywalker. My friend, Heidi, has always called him Bad Lucas. She had a piece of luggage that was Lucas brand and it broke. She called the luggage, Bad Lucas. Now Lucas' name always makes her think of that.
Lucas calls Emrie, Big Baby from Toy Story 3. He came up with it on his own. I am pretty sure it's because Emrie really is a big baby (especially compared to Eva). He also calls her Wall-E. The reason for this is because Wall-E and Eva are friends in the movie. For obvious reasons, Ron and I call her, Chunk. I am pretty sure that we will have to stop calling her that soon. We don't want to hurt her feelings.
She had scratched her nose in this picture. So sad!
Eva is called Eva from Wall-E. If you don't know the movie, her name is actually Eve, but Wall-E calls her Eva. That's not much of a nickname, but when we picked her up from the hospital, Lucas said, "She's not white.", referring to the Eva from Wall-E. Ron calls her Eva Las Vegas and sings that to her all the time. Ron's dad calls her Miss Longoria. I thought this picture was fitting, because it is from the opening of her club in Las Vegas.

I finally got the collages put together of the babies photo shoot. Each time I look at them, I am so happy! I love how they turned out, even with a non-smiley baby. ;)

1 Year Sneak Peek

Last night we went to FotoFly and got pictures taken for the girls 1st birthday. Eva was a little stinker and would not smile in ANY of the pictures. Considering she is not smiling, they captured some adorable ones. Emrie was all smiles, like normal.
Once I get everything organized, I will post more of these pictures. I just couldn't wait to at least give a little peek!

Adorable Finley

My friend, Heidi, ended up naming her baby Finley. He is so cute. I still can't get over his hair!
I love going to visit. Here's to many, many more visits!
