Kids Safe Fair

Last Friday, for playgroup, we went to the Kids Safe Fair at the South Towne Expo Center. It was free to the public. We had so much fun.
The first thing that we did was get Lucas' face painted. He chose Batman. We got balloon animals, looked at police and fire vehicles, went on a school bus, played on the playground, colored, spun wheels for prizes and had fun with our friends. Lucas was really excited to get his picture taken with the Carl's Jr star. He loved that thing and even gave it hugs. I guess he really does take after his Daddy.
Emrie got a balloon flower corsage. She loved it.

The only bad thing about the day was that it was right during the girls morning nap time. They were very tired. Luckily Grandma Jacobs was there and put them both to sleep. Thanks Grandma!

Not What I Thought, Thank Goodness!

The other day I found Emrie and she looked like this. Brown "stuff" was all over her face, hands and outfit. I couldn't figure out where in the world it came from and was really scared to smell it. When I did get the courage to take a whiff, it wasn't at all the smell I was expecting. In fact, it was quite sweet. When she opened her mouth, out came a piece of soccer ball tin foil. Lucas had gotten a little box of soccer ball chocolates for Valentine's Day. One of them escaped the box and of course, Emrie found it and put it directly in her mouth.
I hope that I will never find her covered in what I actually thought it was.

You've Come a Long Way, Baby

My cousin, Jodie, and her boyfriend, Jason, came to SLC last weekend for a ski trip. We were talking about how long it's been since she has been here. It's been forever! It was the 2002 Winter Olympics, to be exact. Considering that Jodie and I used to be inseparable, that is a long, long time.

Jodie and I are 4 days apart. Yes, she is older! ;) Our parents were really close and so we grew up really close. She moved to CA when she was 13. Boo! I still got to see her every summer and Christmas vacation. Since we have become adults, our lives have gotten busy and seeing each other has become a lot harder.
It was so nice to be able to catch up for a while. We went to brunch on Sunday at Left Fork Grill. It definitely wasn't a long enough visit, but is was so good to see her. I got to meet her boyfriend, Jason. He is a great guy. I just wonder... when are you two going to get married??

I can't wait to hook up again when we go to CA for a Disneyland vacation this year.

No More Orange Baby Food

The past few days I have felt like I should be wearing a head to toe apron while feeding the girls. They have both been thinking that it is hilarious to spit out their baby food. After spitting it out, they spread it all over their faces. Naughty babies! Yesterday they were eating double orange, carrots and peaches. Oh my!
Emrie had a baby food uni-brow.
Eva ended up with a baby food goatee.

I try not to laugh, but it's so hard. That makes it even worse. The girls then look at each other, laugh and spit more. I hope this behavior goes away quickly. :)

Little Mover

Eva has become quite the little mover. She crawls really quickly all over our whole house. She really loves to find any type of paper and put it in her mouth.
The other day she was getting frustrated because she couldn't crawl over Emrie. Silly goof! It would have been much easier to just go around. Emrie was just as happy as can be while her sister was on top of her.
She even tries to escape from her crib. Notice her little leg hanging out. We really need to lower her crib asap!

A Bunch of Sickies

Everyone in our house has been really sick, except me. Knock on wood. I think that I have washed my hands 100 times each day. They all have coughs, runny noses, fevers and chest congestion.
Lucas was just hanging out in his t-shirt having a relaxing day. He had to miss preschool today, because his cough is so bad. :(
Emrie has been so miserable since last week. She coughs so much that she spits up. (Notice the orange baby food all over her jammies.) She was just laying on Ron and relaxing. When I got out the camera, she just had to smile for it. She is so adorable!
All Eva wants to do is suck her binki. That is nothing new, but she gets frustrated because her nose is stuffy and she can't suck as much as she wants. She has also been spitting out her baby food. (More orange.)

I hate seeing my family sick. Here's to a speedy, speedy recovery!

Valentine's Fun

I am not a fan of Valentine's Day. I think that you should tell your partner that you love them every day and not just one day a year. I don't like flowers. I think that they are a waste of money. I don't like huge, expensive boxes of chocolates. I also think that it is ridiculous that they jack up the prices of items around this holiday, because retailers know they can get away with it. Ron and I never celebrate. I know.... Bah Humbug!

With that being said.... I think it is a really fun holiday for kids. I used to love making Valentine cards and delivering them to friends. Decorating the shoe box at school was the best. Making heart shaped cookies and eating them is great.
Our Valentine's festivities started with doing a photo shoot. It was a mini session. Getting three kids to hold still and smile proved to be a challenge, but I think that we got some adorable ones. Thanks Butterfly Love Photography!
Lucas had a fun Valentine party at preschool. He came home with a bunch of Valentine's and this cute head band that he made.
Our Valentine party for playgroup was a blast. We decorated construction paper hearts, frosted yummy heart shaped cookies, had a scavenger hunt, played and ate a potluck lunch. We had yummy chicken gnocchi soup, homemade rolls, pb&j sandwiches, veggies and dip, fruits, goldfish crackers and apple juice. Fun, fun, fun!

We didn't have much of a celebration with the kids on actual Valentine's Day. All of the kids and Ron were sick. We ordered in Greek Souvlaki and just had a relaxing evening at home. I guess the kids will have to deliver their Valentine's another day. ;)

Baking Birthday Party and More

Yesterday was my niece, Anna's, 6th Birthday. We had so much fun celebrating with her.
The day started off with her friend party. She had a baking party. The kids baked and baked and baked. Lucas was so excited to be invited to the party. I am glad that they are such good friends. It makes me sad that there will be a day when they don't want to invite each other to their parties. The kids cut out and frosted sugar cookies, made a jumbo batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, frosted cupcakes, decorated boxes to take the goodies home in, made fruit skewers and played pin the candle on the cake. What a fun, fun party! Suzie made all of the kids aprons to take home as a party favor.

For dinner, we went to the Mayan. The kids love that place. I am glad to say that the food is much better but, the prices are outrageous! Seriously, $13.95 for a salad? Lucas had a blast hanging with his cousins and watching the show.

The evening ended with cake and ice cream at their house. Unfortunately, I had to work. Lucas went with Grandma and Grandpa to the party. Thanks for letting him tag along.

The one bummer of the day is that the girls are sick. Poor babies! Ron stayed home with them. What a trooper!

Welcome Baby L

Yesterday one of my best friends in the whole wide world, Heidi, had a little baby boy. I am so, so, so excited for her. She ended up going into the hospital at about noon due to low kick counts. Her fluid was very low. They kept her and started her on pitocin. Shortly after she got the epidural, his heart rate went down to 60. She was rushed in for an emergency c-section.
He was born at 6:59 pm weighing 8 pounds 2 ounces and 21 1/2 inches long. He is adorable and looks just like his daddy, Jarrod. He has so much hair! I am quite jealous, because my kids never have hair when they are born. Heck, the babies are 11 months old and still hardly have hair. :)
Mom and Dad are so happy and filled with joy for their new little addition. Heidi is very tired due to not sleeping the previous 2 nights. I am so thankful that he is here and healthy. I can't wait for Mom and Dad to choose a name!
