Trafalga Lehi

We met some friends at Trafalga Lehi for some fun.  This place has some fun rides, kiddie play area, miniature golf and arcade games.  The entrance came with our Pass of all Passes that we purchased.
The kids loved the rides.  Even though Emrie was very hesitant at first, she ended up enjoying them.  The girls weren't tall enough to go on the bumper boats, so my sweet friend, Alison, took Lucas.  She was the target for all the kids to spray and ended up soaking wet.  Thanks for taking a hit to make Lucas happy Ali!  We are excited to go back again and again.

Slip n Slide

We bought a Slip n Slide.  I was so excited, because I grew up loving summers because we got to play with the Slip n Slide.

I was a little bit nervous about the girls knowing what to do and if they would like it.  I never should have been concerned.  All of the kids loved it.  They loved to slide and even just sit in the little fountains.  I have a feeling that the Slip n Slide will be out in our yard a lot this summer.

Finally! A Regular Beating Heart

On May 31, I had an ablation done to my heart.  Here is the run down on why.... While on bed rest at the hospital when I was pregnant with the girls, they found that I had an irregular heart beat.  It has never bothered me, until 3 1/2 months ago.  I started having frequent dizzy spells.  I wasn't concerned until it started to affect my vision.  After an echo cardiogram, EKG and wearing a heart rate monitor for 48 hours, they realized that I was having 24% extra beats.  Every normal person has 1%.  So in other words, I was having a LOT.  The cardiologist explained to me that I was a good candidate for an ablation, which would stop my extra beats.  I also was given the option of medicine.  I didn't want to be on medicine for the rest of my life, so Ron and I decided it would be best for me to get it done.

Contrary to the picture above, I was super scared the day of surgery.  I just kept thinking that they were going to be cauterizing my heart and could easily slip and make a mistake.  The doctor's assistant was very nice and helped calm me a little bit.  I went in for surgery and was only in for 2 hours.  They were able to find the area that was triggering the extra beats and cauterized it to make them go away.  I have felt so much better since.  I am so glad that I made the choice to have the surgery.

I have some great friends and family.  My parents and my cousin, Lindsey, brought us dinner Friday and Saturday night.  Ron's sister, Lisa, brought us amazing doughnuts from Beyond Glazed.  I even liked the Maple Bacon, even though I really didn't want to try it.  A group of my friends brought me flowers and yummy cookies from Costco.  Thanks everyone that helped my recovery go better.

Copper Fun

Kennecott Copper Mine was offering free mine visits for the month of May.  We headed up there for playgroup. It's always fun to go up there and see the mine and the huge trucks
When we first got there, it was a bit cold.  I thought that I had grabbed a jacket for Lucas at home, but I was wrong.  Luckily I did have a blanket in the car that he was able to use.
We walked around the visitors center and watched the movie about how the mine is run.  By the time we got out of the movie, it had warmed up a little.

After the mine, we headed over to Copperton Township and played at this cute little park.  The kids loved it.  Even though it is pretty far away, we will definitely have to head back there some time.

Happy 21st Brandii

Some friends and I headed to Texas Roadhouse to celebrate my friend, Brandii's, 21st birthday.  I always have so much fun with this group of girls.
Adults - Front to Back - Right Row - Kari, Angie, Brianna and Alison
Left Row - Nichole, Kari, Brandii and Shamie
Brandii got to ride the saddle while we all sang Happy Birthday to her.
 Brandii, Shamie and Staci
Most everyone had to go home, so a couple of us headed over to Donkey Tails.  We wanted to sit outside and the weather was cold, but it was perfect, because we were able to get a table near the heater.  We sat and chatted for a long time.  What an enjoyable evening.  Brandii, I am so happy that you are finally 21.  You still make me feel super old though.  Ha ha ha!

Preschool Graduation

Lucas had his last day of preschool on May 24.  It was a very hard day for me.  I was so emotional.  I cried more that one time.  I cried really hard when I went to pick him up. I am just not ready to "lose" him to Kindergarten 5 days a week.  When we went to orientation, I cried when they took him away for the tour.  I am going to be one slobbery mess on his first day.
Lucas has gone to Miss Lori for 2 years and we love her.  Lucas talks about her all of the time.  For the last few months we have been telling him that he won't be going to Miss Lori's and he will go to Kindergarten.  He keeps asking why she can't be his teacher and saying how much he is going to miss her.  I am so grateful that I had such an amazing person that I could send Lucas to that I knew would teach and love him.  I am so happy that the girls are already on the list to attend preschool with her.

Since we think Miss Lori is so great, I wanted to get her a wonderful goodbye gift.  I had talked to a few teachers that I know and they said that gift cards were their favorite gift from a student.  So we made her a gift card flower pot.  There were gift cards to Beans and Brews, Roxberry, Subway, Barnes and Noble, Target and Sweet Tooth Fairy for $5 and Cafe Rio for $10.  When I posted this picture on my facebook page, people were commenting about how generous I was.  I think that it was the least I could have done for someone that was so wonderful to Lucas.  I actually felt like I should have done more.  Now on to the new chapter in Lucas's life, Elementary School.

Mother's Day 2012

There's nothing like waking up to a little blue Tiffany box on Mother's Day.
The kids and Ron bought me a necklace.  It has 3 keys on it.  They are each different.  One for each child.  I love, love, love it!
We headed to Gardner Village for brunch.  We went early, so it was actually more like breakfast.  We took my Mom for Mother's Day.  Lucas had fun playing with the sign on the table that was telling the server if we were done with our meal.  It was a great morning spent with my parents.  I love you Mom!  I am so lucky to have such an amazing Mom!
I had to take a picture of my plate.  This was the best ranch lime chicken that I have ever had.  YUM!  The potatoes and shrimp were yummy too.
We tried to get some family pictures.  Taking pictures with 3 kiddos is not the easiest thing in the world.  I do think that we got a few cute ones though.
I wanted to take a drive.  I absolutely love going for drives.  We headed up American Fork Canyon.  I talked Ron into driving 3 miles up a dirt road that had a lot of dips and was very narrow at times.  He was not very happy with me.  At the top we ended up at Silver Lake.  What a beautiful lake.  Ron admitted that it was completely worth the scary dirt road drive.
After heading back down the canyon, we ended up at Water Moon restaurant in Draper.  The food was delicious.  Ron and I shared a Sushi roll that was to die for.  The kids enjoyed eating their Lo Mien.
Since we weren't able to see Ron's mom on Mother's Day, we took her to dinner at Cheesecake Factory at City Creek later that week.  As always, it was yummy.  After dinner, we went over to the food court to let the kids play in the dinosaur play area.  Lucas was in heaven!  They had so much fun.  What a fun filled Mother's Day week.

Soccer Newbie

Lucas played soccer this spring.  I was going to put him in last fall, but with our California trip, he would have missed too many games.  He was a little apprehensive the first game, but got more aggressive with running after the ball and going into the crowd as the season went on.  By the end, he was super sad that it was over.  He will be in fall soccer for sure.
Not sure what face he was pulling, but here he is in his cute little uniform.  For the last game, he decided that he wanted to wear his shin guards on the outside of his socks.  Since this is our first time with soccer, we really don't know what the correct way is.  There were kids with them inside and outside.  Maybe by fall we will learn.
Lucas had a fun team with a great coach named Brandon.

Bean Museum

We went down to Provo to meet some friends for the day.  We first met for lunch a Sammy's.  Yum!

After lunch we headed to BYU to go to the Bean Museum.  I had heard about it and seriously thought it was a museum full of beans.  Turns out that Bean must be the guy that funded it.  It is a museum full of all kinds of animals.  They are not alive, but I think that they all were at some point.  They are just stuffed now.  The kids had so much fun walking around and looking at all of the animals.  They also loved playing in the toy room.  I really like having fun adventures to places that we have never been before.  What a great day!

Mall Fun and Dino Invasion

One Sunday in May we decided to go for a drive.  We ended up at the Provo Towne Center Mall.  We walked around for a bit, bought Ron some shoes and then went on the carousal.  Emrie is not a fan of the carousal.  She was not a happy camper.  She calmed down at the end, but was upset for quite a bit of the ride.
I found this fasinator headband at Dillards.  I just had to try it on.  I wish that I had somewhere fancy to wear such an outrageous headband.

Our house is currently invaded with dinosaurs.  Lucas is completely obsessed with them.  He wants to be a paleontologist when he grows up.  He knows the name of several dinosaurs and can tell you all about them.  It's pretty sad that since this picture, I am sure we have had 5 or more dinosaurs that have come to live at our house.  I also can't forget to mention our bug friend that made it into the picture.

Quick Girls Trip

I went on a quick overnight trip with 4 of my girlfriends to Park City.  We had so much fun!
Brandii, Shamie, Alison, Brianna and Suzanne
Sad that out of all the fun we had, this was the only picture we got.  I guess we were just having too much fun.  We went to see The Lucky One and went to dinner at Baja Cantina.  That evening we played games and talked up a storm.  The next day, we shopped , shopped and shopped.  What a fun little getaway.  I love these girls!
