Our Christmas 2009

Our last Christmas as a family of three was a wonderful one. We really enjoyed all of the time that we got to spend with family. We started out with a nice Christmas Eve prime rib dinner with Ron's family. As always, the food was delicious. We had fun eating, visiting and playing games.
On Christmas morning we woke up to seeing the fun presents that Santa had brought for Lucas. We had to wake him, because we had places to go. At first he was very resistant. I asked him if he wanted me to call Santa and take his toys back and he said yes. I was shocked. After some good convincing from Ron, he finally decided to get out of bed. Crazy hair and all, we went and looked at the Santa toys. He loved them, especially his flip-over race car.

We then continued our day by having a brunch with Ron's family at his brother's house in Lehi. We ate yummy food and did our gift exchange.
That evening we went to my sister's house in North Ogden for Christmas evening with my family. We ate a soup and salad dinner with a lot of yummy appetizers and desserts. We also did our gift exchange and had fun singing Christmas carols. For some reason, Lucas decided he wanted to cry while we were singing. It was quite odd, because he loves music.
I wasn't very good with my camera this year. I didn't remember a family picture until the end of the night. Lucas was already in his jammies and ready for the drive home. This is the best picture that we were able to get. We were all tired and ready for the day to end. You can also see my belly and how big I am getting. Oh my!

What a fun filled Christmas with wonderful memories. Here's to many more!

Breakfast with Santa and other fun

We have had so much winter fun the last few weeks.
We went to Millennial Falls Reception Center with the Cannon's to have breakfast with Santa. This is such a fun tradition that we started last year. It will definitely continue. When we first got there, Lucas had a reindeer balloon animal made for him and got Frosty painted on his face. We then ate breakfast. Yummy. Santa made his appearance and sang with all the kids. Lucas even got called up on stage to ring the bells with Santa while everyone sang Jingle Bells. It was so cute.
Our visit ended with sitting on Santa's lap, Lucas telling him what he wanted for Christmas (even though he didn't say anything, he just sat there) and getting a treat bag. What a wonderful morning!
Lucas got a sled from Grandpa Campbell for his birthday. Ron and Lucas went sledding in the backyard. I think that Lucas could have gone all day, but Ron was completely worn out from pulling him up and down the hill.
At playgroup the kids all made gingerbread houses. Unfortunately, Lucas and I couldn't go because both of us were battling a nasty cough. Randi was nice enough to bring us all the stuff so that we could do it at home. This was the first time that Lucas had done a house. He seemed a lot more interested in eating the candy than decorating the house. Our houses ended up looking really nice. Maybe next year we will try a big one.

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice x 2!

We found out last week that we are having 2 girls. We are so excited! Ron and I are a bit nervous though. We only know how to "do" boys. Having girls will be a totally new thing for us. After the ultrasound, we were sitting in the office and Ron said, "Oh my, I am nervous to have girls." It was so cute to see him actually think about having the girls and raising them.

They are both growing right on schedule and everything looks perfect. With all of the problems that we have had, we are so happy that things are finally looking good. The hemorrhage is completely gone and the Dr took me off bed rest. Thank goodness! What a wonderful Christmas present, to be off bed rest and to find out we are having healthy girls.

Fun Birthday Parties

Lucas had two wonderful birthday parties this year.
We first started off with a birthday party for his play group friends. Ellie, Camden, Riley and Ryker came over to celebrate. We were missing Garrett and Emmy. The kids had a lot of fun playing. We ate pizza, salad and breadsticks for lunch. Once everyone was full, Lucas had a blast opening his fun gifts. After presents, the kids decorated Mickey Mouse sugar cookies. I stole this idea from my friend. Thanks Christie.

The party was a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme and turned out to be a big success. Thanks so much to Heidi for helping me with the party. Since I was still on bed rest, I could have never done it without her. Heidi always helps make memories great too. "The pizza is cold." :)
I went against doctors orders during the day for Lucas's birthday. We took him to lunch at Chili's. It was so much fun and so nice to get out. My mom and dad came with us. Lucas really enjoyed his chips and salsa, corn dog, broccoli soup, Sprite and especially the brownie sundae for dessert.
Making birthday cakes for Lucas has been my tradition. I knew that I had to continue this year. Ron was so wonderful to take my list and buy all the stuff needed for the parties and cake making. Karlee came over and helped me with the frosting. Lucas is obsessed with Mickey right now, so I decided that he must have a Mickey cake. I just made it up in my head and then looked at a coloring book to freehand the face. I must say that I am very proud of myself. If you know me, you know that I am not any kind of artist.
The evening of his birthday we had a family party for him. Both sides of the family, the Treat's, the Lewis's and Heidi came. The taco dinner was very yummy. We then blew out candles and opened presents. Lucas had so much fun opening his gifts. He is now a pro. Playing with all the kids was also a highlight of the night.

Happy 3rd Birthday Buddy! We hope that your day was wonderful.

3 Year Old Pictures

Lucas got his pictures taken for his 3rd Birthday last week. I think that they turned out adorable. Here are a few of my favorites!

He is seriously so stinkin' cute! I can't stand it. I just want to eat him up.

Happy 3rd Birthday Lucas

Happy 3rd Birthday to our little buddy Lucas! It is hard to believe that it has been 3 whole years since I gave birth to you. Time flies! You had such a rough start coming into this world, but you would never know that now. Daddy and I love, love, love you more than anything in this world!
Lucas peacefully sleeping during his stay at Cottonwood Hospital when he was born.
Lucas today!

Lucas is such a fun little boy. He is so busy! He loves watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Frosty the Snowman and Toy Story. He also loves cars, stuffed animals, random objects that he pretends are different things, making messes, reading books, playing outside, going bye-bye, talking on the phone, playing with friends, being noisy, talking non stop and so many other things.

We are so happy and blessed to have him in our lives!

Yodel-Ay-Ee-Oooo

I know that I am a little late for Halloween, but I just had to post these pictures.
There was finally some time to get Halloween pictures done for Lucas. I think that he looks so adorable in his lederhosen. He is the cutest little yodeler in the world! I just had to have him be an Alpine Boy for Halloween this year because 1) He looked so stinkin' cute and 2) I won't be able to get away with costumes like this for the rest of his life.

Christmas Cards - Done and Sent

Christmas Card Photo
This year I had a lot of time on my hands to get my Christmas cards done and sent by my goal day, which is the day before Thanksgiving. I guess I can thank bed rest for getting my cards out "on time". I love people to get our card at the very beginning of the holiday season. I used to be really good at this, but since Lucas has been born, they have always gone out in December.

We took our picture in the backyard, since I couldn't go anywhere. I think they turned out pretty good, considering the circumstances. I am so excited for this holiday season and to spend it with friends and family that I love.

Thanksgiving Celebration

Our Thanksgiving weekend was wonderful. I wasn't very good with the camera, but I did get a few pictures. We started out the week making turkey nut cups for place cards. This brings back memories of going to my Grandma Jaeger's and making them each year.
This year we spent Thanksgiving with my family. It was so nice. Good food and good company. Ron's dad also joined us for dinner.

I am thankful for so many things.... Ron and Lucas that bring joy to my life everyday, shelter, food on the table, our cars, Ron's job, medical insurance, medical technology that has enabled me to continue caring these beautiful twin babies, living in a free country, wonderful family and friends, cheeseballs and crackers and so much more.

Friday Ron had to work, so I started putting up the Christmas decorations. I was so happy when he was able to get off 3 hours early, when the market closed.

On Saturday, I actually had permission from my dr to leave the house. Yahoo! It was like a vacation. We went over to the Cannon's house to watch the big U vs BYU game. Go UTES! Unfortunately, the "other" team barely pulled out a win in overtime. So that was very sad. However, we once again had some good food and good company.

What a wonderful weekend! I can't wait to spend the holidays with the ones we love.

Building Frosty the Snowman

Last Saturday it snowed a little bit, so we decided that Sunday was the perfect day to build a snowman. Since I am still on bed rest, I just went outside, sat down and watched.
It was so cute to watch Ron and Lucas make Frosty come to life. Lucas is very obsessed with Frosty right now and even has a little stuffed one that he carries around and sleeps with. Once Frosty was finished, Lucas kept talking to him and telling him to talk back. I guess that it is true in the cartoon, that once he gets his hat, he talks to the kids.

This is the first of many snowmen that we will build this winter. Maybe next time I will be able to help a little bit.

Halloween Fun

Our Halloween was wonderful. This year Lucas was an Alpine Boy. He was the cutest little yodeler that I have ever met.
Some of Ron's family came over for chili. The party got moved to our house because I was still on bed rest. We ate yummy chili, cornbread, rootbeer and apple crisp. After the meal, the cousins went trick-or-treating. They were having a lot of fun until Lucas fell on a porch stair and did a number to his cheek. Poor little guy! His cheek immediately bruised and scabbed up.
When he got home, we dressed him in his skeleton jammies that glow in the dark. He was so exhausted and fell asleep on our bed while attempting to watch Halloween Mickey.

What a wonderful holiday. The magic of Halloween really comes back when you have kids to share it with!

Carving Pumpkins

The day before Halloween we decided to carve our pumpkins. We had never done this with Lucas before, so it was a great start to our family tradition.
Lucas loved watching mommy and daddy scoop out the guts and carve the pumpkins. He was so funny. When Ron was poking his pumpkin pattern, Lucas kept saying, "Say owie pumpkin." He was convinced that Ron was hurting the pumpkin. Ron's pumpkin didn't turn out, so he threw it away. We ended up with the two that I had carved. Lucas was so happy that the pumpkins had turned into jack-o-lanterns and his was a smiley pumpkin.

We ended the evening with roasting some yummy pumpkin seeds. What a fun evening! (Especially since it was something I could be involved in, even being on bed rest!)

Let's Bowl, Let's Bowl, Let's Rock-n-Roll!

Lucas got to go bowling for the very first time on October 28 for his cousin Brady's birthday party. Because of still being on bed rest, I couldn't go. Ron took Lucas and the camera and brought back some great pictures.

He has been to the bowling alley on Friday nights several times to see my mom and dad bowling on their league. He has always wanted to go and talks about it a lot.
First they went to Rock Creek Pizza for some yummy food, then went to Willow Creek Country Club for some bowling. Lucas had a blast rolling his ball down the lane and cheering, even in too big of shoes. Ron informed me that they had to press reset several times because his ball got stuck from going so slow. They came home with a lot of stories about the night.

Happy 4th Birthday Brady! Sorry we missed getting a picture of you. Thanks for the invite to your fun party.

Picking Pumpkins

Ron and my cousin Karlee took Lucas to the Pumpkin Patch a few weeks before Halloween. They had so much fun.

Have I mentioned... I am currently on bed rest and have been since October 12? I have a hemorrhage in one of my placentas and I have to stay down so that it can heal. I haven't been able to go anywhere. So, Ron has been super dad with taking Lucas fun places, doing all the housework and taking care of us both. Thanks for being the best Ron! We just want to get these babies here and born safely.
He loved finding the perfect pumpkins.
After picking out his pumpkins, he had a lot of fun playing around at the patch.

I am sad that I couldn't go, but at least I get all the cute pictures. Thanks Karlee for being a great stand in mom and wife. :)

Happy 10th Fishy Birthday Sabriya

OK... so I am WAY behind in posts. I am going to try and catch up in the next few days.

My niece, Sabriya, turned 10 and had a fun birthday party at The Living Planet Aquarium on October 10. This was the first time that our little family had been there. It was fun.
Lucas and Ron after petting the stingrays.

The whole party posing by the frog.

Happy Birthday Sabriya. You are getting so big. Thanks for inviting us to the party.

What a Wonderful Wednesday

We had a great Wednesday this week. It was full of fun fall activities.
First, Lucas and I went to Gardner Village with playgroup to go and see the witches. Lucas was so excited! He couldn't wait to find and look at each different witch. He loved them. One witch even got a kiss from him! After seeing the witches we went to a yummy lunch at Apollo Burger.
Later that afternoon, we went to Cornbelly's down at Thanksgiving Point with the Cannons. We have made this a tradition in our family. Lucas has gone every year, even when he was only 10 months old. There are so many fun activities there. We really loved the hay ride, cow train, jumping pillow, play area, grain train.... ok, we loved it all.

The best thing is that Hogi Yogi always has buy one get one free coupons for Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. This was the last year that Lucas will be free. Next year he will be a big boy that has to pay. It normally starts the end of September. I like to try and go early to miss most of the crowds. This year it was a bit chilly, hopefully I can avoid that in the up coming years. What a great day!

A Little Announcement

Ron and I have a little announcement to make....

We will be adding 2 new additions to our family sometime in April 2010. We are so excited! Twins! Wow! We are also a bit nervous. They are actually due May 5, 2010, but the doctor has informed us that twins are born 3-4 weeks early. I am hoping to hold out until 37 weeks so that they are full term. Cross your fingers for us.
This was the little gift that we made for our families to tell them about our upcoming arrivals. We told them to read closely!

A Night Away in Park City

Ron and I were able to get away last weekend for a night in Park City. We went for an extension of the week of celebration for his 40th birthday. Ron's sister Lisa was able to book us a room at the Park City Marriott for a great price. It was a nice hotel. Scott and Lisa kept Lucas overnight so that we could spend the night alone. Thanks guys for all that you did for us!
That evening we went to Zoom for dinner. It was very tasty! We also just walked Main Street and got caramel apples from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. The next morning we checked out, had breakfast and went to the Park Silly Sunday Market. It was a lot of fun.

What a wonderful night to wrap up the Ronukkah celebration for Ron's 40th!

Happy Happy 40th Birthday Ron!

Today was Ron's 40th Birthday! We had an absolutely wonderful day. He was off work, so we got to spend the whole day together as a family.
For lunch we went to Archibald's Restaurant at Gardner Village. It was yummy. Ron is part of the birthday club and we had a buy one get one. So that made it even better.

Lucas got to take his first pony ride on a pony named Goldie. He loved it and was smiling the whole time. I let him ride all by himself. I was a nervous wreck and just kept telling him to hold on tight the whole time. Ron tried to stay kind of in the distance, since he is highly allergic to horses. Even being quite far away, he still had to take Benadryl when we got home.
For dinner we went with most of Ron's family and my mom and dad to Carrabba's Italian Grill in Orem. It is far away, but well worth the drive. It is one of Ron's favorite restaurants. What a great time.
Happy 40th Birthday Ron! You are in another decade, but still a young one to me. Lucas and I love you SO much! Thanks for being the best husband and daddy that a girl and little buddy could ask for.

Tracy Aviary

Today for playgroup we went to Tracy Aviary. I had not been there since elementary school. We really enjoyed the bird show, feeding the ducks and seeing all of the beautiful birds.
After the Aviary, we went over to Liberty Park for a picnic lunch. The kids had fun eating lunch and then running around. We also really enjoyed the Seven Rivers Fountain that is in the park. Yahoo for fun playgroups. We are still holding onto the outside adventures until it gets too cold.

Monkeying around at Colton's Party

My cousin Lindsey's son, Colton, celebrated his 1st birthday last Sunday at Winchester Park. We were invited to the party. It was so much fun. The theme was monkeys and Lindsey had the pavilion decorated so cute.
Colton loved his party and especially his cake. Up until that day, he had not had any desserts. So he was really loving digging into his yummy, sugary cake. The kids also got to do a pinata. I got a great action shot of Lucas and his hit. What a wonderful day!

Happy 1st Birthday Colton! We love you. It is so cute that you are now bigger and play so well with Lucas. You two are going to be lifelong friends.

Surprise Party for Ron

After months of planning and secret keeping, I was finally able to take Ron to his 40th surprise birthday party. It turned out perfect! He was SO surprised! When we walked in the door, he said that it took him a second to realize why everyone was looking at him. Then it clicked and they all yelled surprise. He did, however, say to me, "You are dead." I suppose for planning this and keeping the secret from him. :)

I had previously told him that we were going to my niece's birthday party at the Sons of Utah Pioneers, because she was studying them and was "into" them. He took the lie hook, line and sinker. Yahoo for me for keeping it a secret for so long.
We had so much great food. I had four 6 foot subs from The Philadelphian. They were huge. We also had a lot of wonderful salads and chips. Thank you to all the people who donated salads and chips! It helped me out a ton.
We had so many of our wonderful family and friends come to the party. Thanks so much for sharing this special occasion with us!

What a wonderful evening. I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate Ron's milestone.

Happy 40th Birthday Shawn

September 11 was my brother Shawn's 40th Birthday. We had a wonderful time celebrating with him.
On his birthday we went to dinner at Porcupine Grill. Yummy! We then went back to his house for cheesecake, donuts and ice cream. The next day we went to Star Farm to watch his band, This Passing Moment, play. They are awesome. Lucas had a blast dancing. What a fun celebration!
Happy 40th Birthday Shawn! Thanks for being the best brother that a sister could ask for. I love you a ton. To many more wonderful birthdays to come.

Utes Football Season Opener

Today is the season opener for Utah Utes football. There is only one thing to say... GO UTES!
We went and picked up Ron for lunch today to celebrate the first football game tonight. We had a delicious meal at Fuddruckers. Yummy! What a cute family picture, minus me. Ignore my no makeup. :)

Oquirrh Lake

Yesterday we went to Oquirrh Lake at Daybreak for playgroup. Lucas was lucky to have his cousin Anna come with him. They had so much fun playing in the water and sand. How nice to have a small little beach so close to home!

1st Time Roasting Smores

Today is Andy's birthday. He is Ron's nephew. Some of Ron's family went up to Rockport to camp from Friday to Sunday. Because of me having to work, we just went up on Friday evening to eat dinner and roast smores.
Lucas had such a great time. He loved running around with his cousins. They played keep away ball and played in the tents. We then had a very yummy spaghetti dinner and roasted smores. Lucas absolutely loved them. It did make me a bit nervous with him being so close to the fire, but I tried to be good about letting him do things. What a wonderful evening!
Happy Birthday Andy! We can't believe that you are already 13.

Romping at the Riverton Park

Lucas and I love going to playgroup each week. This week we went to a park in Riverton that had a splash pad and a fun playground.
Lucas ran through the water features for a minute and then decided that he liked the playground better. We ate lunch and then I changed Lucas into his regular clothes, so that we could run a few errands. Of course, he decided at that time, that he wanted to run through the water. I had a hard time keeping him from getting his regular clothes wet.

We are hoping for several more weeks of nice weather so that we can have some fun outdoor activities for playgroup.

Happy Bouncing Birthday Josh

Last Saturday we went to Bouncing Off The Walls for cousin Joshy's birthday party. It was a blast!
Lucas absolutely loves bouncing. It was so much different than last year. We used to have to help him up the ladder for the big slide. This year he did it all by himself. He is so brave. He had so much fun playing with daddy, going down the slide, bouncing and playing basketball.
Happy 6th Birthday Joshy! Time flies. It seems like you were just born. Thanks for letting us come to the fun party.
